The history of the Georgia was started long before common era (BC). The cave town of Uplistsikhe ("Place visited by the God") is founded in the 1st half of 1st millenium BC...
...and became unpopulated after Mongolian invasion in 13 AD. Georgia is one of 1st states of the world which adopted Christianity.
Very ancient-fashion basilical church is dated 6-7 AD. The ancient time arch-like apartment below consists giant wine jugs.

Cave monastery of Vardzia is located about 70 km south from Borjomi. It consists up to 600 (!) apartments, including Hvtismshobeli church (12 AD) at the centre.
The history of vine-groving in Georgia is as ancient as the Georgia itself. Such the brands as "Kindzmarauli", "Khvanchkara", "Akhalsheni" and many others are worldwide-known and considered as one of the best vines in the world. Left- the ancient wine jug and the goblet for Kindzmarauli, right - the geniune "Kindzmarauli" - one of the Georgian national symbols.
